The concept for Urban Wood Economy took root in 2019 when two kindred souls met at a reclaimed wood meeting hosted by Taylor Guitars. Jeff Carroll and Michael Born shared a dream of taking urban and community wood reutilization to the next level by scaling up the volume of reclaimed wood and wood byproducts through the aggregation of wood “waste” from multiple sources.
By building systems that could receive and handle large amounts of wood and woody debris, Mike and Jeff envisioned an expansive urban and community wood marketplace—one that effectively captures landfill-bound carbon, has real impact on local economies, and generates enough revenue to be economically sustainable.
